December 21, 2014 - Feeding Program

This kid during today's feeding program really touched my heart.

He was a 10 year old child who grew up in the streets. His clothes were tattered and his hair was quite long. He's a kind of boy that gave off this bad boy aura yet what he did was not something you'd expect.

While we were giving away some bags filled with food, school supplies and slippers, my friends and I looked around to see if everybody got their bags and checked if the slippers fit. This boy caught our attention. He was surprised to see a pink pair of slippers in his bag. We insisted to change his slippers since we saw quite a disappointment in his face. We asked ate Gina to change it into a different color, so she gave us a pair of orange slippers to give to the boy.

We asked him to fit the pair of slippers and it turns out that the slippers did not fit. Upon realizing that the slippers did not fit him, he simply said, "Ako lang ni ihatag sa akong manghud te. Sakto ni niya." And he gave off this big smile on his face. It was then that I realized that even children make sacrifices and that there is still hope for humanity.
